wow, it has been a while since the last post and sitting here on this thanksgiving, watching the jazz/bulls game I thought I would put up a few thoughts. The last few months have flown by and have been extremely busy. Not sure if I ever got around to announcing where I was doing my student teaching. I have taken up post at Timpanogos. It is near and dear to me because it is the high school that I attended. I spent endless hours there. I am a t-wolf through and through.
It has been an interesting experience. I have learned a lot. Not only about myself but about the younger generation. It is funny because my first day of teaching I would think.. ‘how am I going to teach these guys. We are nearly the same age’. The more time I spent with them, the more distance I was able to see in our age and the easier it was for me to become ‘the teacher’. As I get to know my students it is so fun to see all of their personalities. A handful of students are sibling to friends that I knew while in high school which also makes it fun. When they refer to siblings that I know it brings back some of the greatest memories I have of high school.
We have covered so much material in the short time that I have been teaching. We have coverd a unit on social health, a unit on physical health and most currently have started our unit on human development. As we have covered both new and old material we have shared experiences some more personal and real than others, but all insightful. Throughout all the units I have given a written assignment that goes along with our topic of conversation. When my teaching stint is over (in 5 days) I will have to get around to sharing some shortened and condensed stories.
