goblin valley

may 8th and 9th kristen, katie, megan and i went with the oak canyon singles ward to goblin valley. i had never been there and honestly didn't really want to go. however, i was on the activities committee so i convinced some friends to come along.

we went down late on friday night and set up camp. it was pretty windy but we eventually got the tent set up with a massive amount on sand flying inside all of clothes and sleeping bags. The fire wood was scheduled to come up with one of the bishopric sons .. but somewhere along the way he got lost and the firewood never showed up. We ended up putting a lantern on the ground and standing around to talk. I did capture this somewhat blurring picture of the moon while we were talking.

we all went to bed super early (ok just our tent everyone else stayed up till the extreme hours of the morning). we are such fun! the next morning we got up packed up the tent, ate some breakfast and them set out to hike. we hung out at the base of the hike (i think it was the little crazy horse trail) waiting for the rest of the ward to drive over to start the hike.

the hike was amazing, nothing too strenuous but beautiful. i tried to take a bunch of pictures along the way.


we hiked through a bunch of narrows. i know that i have probably hiked narrows before but i don't remember any so i really enjoyed it. one with nature, that is me.

after the hike we went over to goblin valley to have a look around (formally known as mushroom valley, which having been there seems like the more logical name). i want to make a point to go back again and take a big group of friends. while on this particular trip katie came up with a brilliant idea to find some rocks there in the valley that looked like extensions of out butt cracks. always up for the challenge we set out to find the perfect rocks and here is out creation.
